Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office Compatibility Issues

If you install the full version of Acrobat Pro 9.x or higher on a machine running Microsoft Office 2000, Word will no longer be able to start - if you try to launch it, CPU usage on one of the logical CPUs will max out at 100% indefinitely in an infinite loop, and you'll have to forcibly shut down Word.

This is a known issue with Acrobat, as described in the application compatibility matrix provided by Adobe.  The only solution UGTS is aware of for this problem so far is to either upgrade to a compatible version of Microsoft Office, or uninstall Adobe Acrobat Pro.
